I would suggest that perhaps WordPress develop a node.js branch, but not phase out the php development base.

Actually during the debate we explain that this JavaScript thing is just for hosted Wordpress.com sites. You can use it in Wordpress blogs you installed with Wordpress.org distriubution but that still remains all in PHP.

Well they can move on the way they want but the fact is that there are many thousands of plugins written in PHP that need to continue to work.
